…of Love and Love jihad

Posted by Nimmy on November 1, 2009

A: I hate readiing newspapers, but these days,I can’t take my head out of it..Its all so exciting news..

Me: Uh,what is it so exciting..All I read is about Maoists,VS,and lot of accidents,I don’t find them exciting.

A: Didn’t you read about Love Jihad?

Me: What is that?

A: It is an organisation that aims at converting girls through love  marriage is functioning in Kerala. Hundreds of girls have been converted by this organisation through this strategy. This organisation makes use of groups of boys belonging to a particular religious faith. They are taught how to lure girls coming from different religious persuasions. They have been ordered to leave those girls who do not fall into their “love trap” within two weeks. Further, the organisation orders their followers to marry them within a short period of six month and to have at least four childrenThe “Love Jihad” organisation provides their members with mobile phones, motor cycles, good clothing, etc. for more effective allurment of girls.

Me: What the heck…Are Hindu /Christian girls, and in this case educated ones in particular,so gullible that anybody who pass by can trap them using mobile phones and battas?

A: That’s not it in complete.Various organisations have started campaging against this Love Jihad.Didn’t you read that The Kerala Catholic Bishops’ Conference (KCBC), the umbrella organisation of all the bishops of the Catholic rites of Kerala, has started awareness campaigns to teach Christian girls and parents about the dangers of the “holy war of love” by certain Islamic groups. The council asks the parents to be on the alert at all times about the responses of their daughters, so that the danger of their falling into the Love Jehad trap could be avoided. Both Hindu and Christian girls are falling prey to the design. So we are cooperating with the VHP on tackling this. We will work together to whatever extent possible.

Me : But…

A : Wait, let me complete..Pramod Muthalik, the whole sale protector  of Hindu culture has said that Sri Ram Sena has,  braced itself to protect this country and their sisters and would soon start nation-wide agitations against this issue. Sri Ram Sena will, however, not take law in its hand; but if the Government prefers to ignore them, they will have no option but to follow the same path as done in ‘pub’ issue in Karnataka.

Me : OhI know how they handled the pub issue..

A: They say that more than 4000 girls have been converted this way..

Me :What is the source?

A :Don’t ask unnecessary questions you silly girl..

Me :

A: So that you may know,Shri Rama Sene will launch a nation-wide `Save our daughters, save India’ campaign, beginning in Karnataka, against `love jihad’.

Me :Ha ha,I am glad that atleast some people are working towards the progressivness of Hindu and Christian girls..It is sad  that muslim girls are doomed and have nobody to help them when they marry out of caste..Ok,now stop overloading me with news bits ,and tell me in detail what this drama of love is all about.

A :Ok,I ‘ll explain..It all started with a love story of Silja Raj (23), a civil engineering graduate, who ran away with Ashkar,a taxi driver. She married him and later converted to Islam.Relatives enter the scene, they file complaint aginst Ashkar for kidnapping their daughter, the court intervenes,Silja says that the two were in love and that she came to him on her own and that she doesn’t want to go with her parents. But strangely, the court  asked the Karnataka DGP and IG to conduct investigation into the matter (including any role of ‘love jihad’) and to submit a report by November 13. The girl was asked to stay with her parents till that time.

Me: Hey hey, whatz that? She is 23,legally an adult..Then how can the court make an order infringing a human’s basic freedom and right to choose what she feels is right..

A : So? this world is  load of hypocrites..Feminists and others champions of human rights rant and shout about freedom of expression, freedom of choice bla bla bla..Where were they when this happened..I am sure atleast a majority would  not have missed this news. And moreover,we hear about Talibans and Talibanization of India etc etc etc every now and then. Tell me,how does it differ from a Taliban in this particular case?

Me :Thatz not true..The PUCL will question the decision of the High Court to send the woman of 23 back to her family despite her statement in court that she had willingly converted and was waiting to get married under the provisions of the Special Marriages Act.Reacting to the order, senior advocate Ravi Varma Kumar said that it violated Article 21 (of life and personal liberty) and Article 25 (of freedom of religion) of the Indian Constitution. He cited Lata Singh vs. State of Uttar Pradesh, 2006, in which the Supreme Court upheld the right of a person who had reached the age of majority to marry of his or her own choice..Also,Kirti Singh, a Supreme Court advocate and legal convener of the All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA), described the case as “absolutely shocking”. She said the question of national security was being mixed up with the simple case of a girl exercising a choice guaranteed to her under the law of the land and Constitution. “The court has taken a patriarchal role,” she said, stating that it reflected intolerance for the girl’s choices.

A: Duh,so what? Are you not a human being with common sense ? The Kerala high court had ordered probe over this matter. No organisation or movement in the name of ‘Love Jihad’ or ‘Romeo Jihad’ is functioning in Kerala, says the report submitted by Jacob Punnoose, Director General of Police, in the Kerala High Court yesterday. The report adds that no evidence has been found regarding the functioning of any such organisation dealing with forced conversion in the state..

Me: Ok,but the court is not really comfortable with that report..Let me add that like the Kerala police, the Dakshina Kannada police has also clarified that the rumour is baseless in the face of facts. The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) claims that 3,000 Hindu girls are “missing” in Dakshina Kannada and 30,000 in the rest of the state. The police have clarified that till the end of September 2009, there were reports of 404 missing girls of whom the police had traced 332. By end October, only 57 women were still missing. Furthermore, the police have clarified that where women were missing because they had eloped, there were many cases of non-Hindus as well as Hindus eloping with Hindus.

The Dakshina Kannada police also explained that in one particular case, that of a 22-year-old girl who had been missing since June and who was rumoured to have fallen victim to this so-called “Love Jehad”, in fact, she had been murdered by a Hindu man, a serial killer who confessed to his crime.

A : Fine, let the second report come.Shall we not give them ,the muslim community atleast the margin of doubt until they are all proved jihadists and terrorists?

Me :Yes,I agree..Honestly speaking,I have no idea why is this an issue all of a sudden. And moreover,I find it very offenvive when somebody says that its easy to lure me with mobile phones and motor bikes. And moreover, who are these bishops and Sanghis to teach me how to love or love my life. How can they talk about something they have no idea about? And moreover, such is the credibility of these people..In Kerala, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s mouthpiece, Janmabhumi, sacked a woman journalist who got married to a Christian and converted. They claimed they could not employ a convert because they were against conversions.

A : :)

Me : Also,It is well known that atheists promote intercaste marriages openly and there is an association for them. Why isn’t VHP and Churcand h not taking care of those women ? Or is it that they are only bothered about women who run away with muslim men? Double standards uh?

A : :)

Me :All I have to say is,please do not mix simple human love and complicated religion.. ***sigh***

P.s: I am tired of reading Love Jihad related articles and blogposts…

I am really sorry for not replying to your comments..I am online after many many days..don’t ask me why..as there is somebody around this computer engineer, who don’t like meyself using computer.. Life is strange..JFs are a load of BS..Don’t ask me to elaborate..

..Of girls’s education and marrying off them early….

Posted by Nimmy on October 7, 2009

This post is purely fictional and bears no resemblence with any characters dead or alive..

Last day, somebody told me so and so…

A: Girls should be married off by the age of 18-19..

Me:Err,isn’t that too early ..

A:Early? not at all..Bcoz by 20+,they will start making their own choices and will have own opinions

Me :So?

A: So? So ,parents should marry off girls before they start having firm opinions and start making decisions for themselves

Me :But isn’t it their life? Moroever, when we marry off them too early, how can they complete their eductaion? How can they have their career?

A: Ha,what is the need for girls to have so much education. The role of women in a society to make a good family and bring up kids in a good way .

Me :Of course that too is important, but it amazes me that a 21st century human being is saying that girls needn’t have much education..

A:All this ‘men-women equality and stuff is bullshit. Women cannot be equal to men.

Me:I never said that they are equal..Both are different on their own ways, but that doens’t mean that they weigh different in the balance of nature

A:Let me tell you an eg. Last day, there was an accident nearby, when a lady bumped into a sccooter-wala and he died..The lady was admitted to mental hospital for weeks..Have you ever heard of a man being mentally unstable just because he met with an accident?you women are silly and emotionally weak ,and let me remind you, they are physically weak since ages..

Me :You are generalizing, thatz not fair..

A:Ok,let me tell you something. What if I sent my daughter to study medicine.Obviously,by the time she passes out,she will be 24 yrs and so,and she will not accept proposals from any men on a lower grade than doctors themselves.

Me :whatz wrong in that? Its fine that a Doctor is looking out for a Doctor..

A:Its ok with her,but not for me,as I have find Crores of money for her dowry.

Me :Look out for boys who don’t ask dowry.

A:Such people exist only in theory. In pracitise, all people ask for dowry, and when it comes to higher grade boys ,as like Doctors, they ask for loads of gold and money..So tell me,should I let my daughter become a doctor and finally spoil my life in the name of her dowry,or should i marry off her to an average man,at the age mentioned earlier, when she is not so firm in her choices and opinions..On another note, there is no need for lady doctors..

Me: **faints** What??”No need for lady doctors”..

A::Yes,tell me what is the problem if there are male doctors alone? Afterall women are weak enough not to enter areas like surgery and such complicated stuff..Tell me how many efficent female surgeons and anesthesists have you seen or heard?

Me: Well, are you saying that there needn’t be female gynecologists too?A:Thats the only area where women can empathize with fellow patients..But even in that field, there isn’t a compulsory need. Labour and Cecarian will be fine in men’s hands too

Me : **girns** not knowing what to say..

A: coming back to the topic,i still stand by what i said,” Girls needn’t study much and should be married off early”..

Me :Err,this is complicated..But it is wrong that you dump her into somebody’s head even when she is immature to undertstand right and wrong in life..Moreover,if she is educated,if some problee happens in marriage life, she can stand in her own, instead of running back and crying in front of parents.

A:You are wrong. In real time,it is the educated girls who come back to families, while the other end girls move on with their life, rather than shouting for divorce and such.

Me :So,in the end,it is your happiness and not your daughter’s happiness that matters.. Ok fine, marry off your girl at 18,so that she will always be unable to resist the injustice that may happen and let her be a door mat..**sigh**

A::You are wrong, good girls will find happiness where they go..

Me : I am glad I met you ..goodbye..

Moral of the story :D on’t argue with people who have pre-conceived notions..You will end up being labelled arrogant and outspoken…

p.s “Please do not criticize the person and say anything bad about her/him,as I don’t intend to hurt the person..But her/his thoughts are surely worth discussion, aren’t they?

Yeah,again a post on women’s attire

Posted by Nimmy on June 22, 2009

Blogosphere is reloaded with posts on “women’s dresses and individual liberty”..IHM has a great post here,Alankrita has a great one here, read Amrutha’s thoughts here..I have had infinite posts on this very same topic, but [please don’t throw stones at me] ,am I yet to make up my mind on this ?. My thought is simple “ If men can’t control themselves.why not I myself take care,as it is my life and my safety”..Ok,ok,I know that even purdah cladded women aren’t free from all this. But still, when in a group,is it not wise to dress as to go along with it rather than trying to stand out.Yes,everybody has individual choices and people may like to draw attention, and yes,I know that even then,”She asked for it” doesn’t hold true. That said, given that we know that there are perverts around us,why should we take the risk of drawing attention?

Yes,I know that modestly is relative and that wearing purdah won’t make you safe. But thatz not my point. When is a beach, a sari or lehanga will attract most eyes, whereas a swimsuit or bikini worn women may go unnoticed (depending on the level of decency of people around) Likewise, when in an office, a sari-nari will go unnoticed whereas a sleeveless-top lady will make many men smile. Ok,now you are asking me “Why should I sacrifice my comfort for the sake of others modesty/immodesty benchmark?” True, but why do we want to attract unwanted attention? Now you are going to tell me “What if all women wore sari/purdah/salwar? ” Oh well, perverts are going to find some reason no matter what, but atleast we  tried our part..Now don’t blame me that I am champion of “Blame the victim philosophy”.No,I am not,but I personally would take care to dress ‘along with the group’ and would advise the same to my baby girl so that very few eyes would fall on me…

I don’t know how true is it that men are turned on visually (I always wonder why men claim this as something to be proud of ..duh..) .There is no logic included in all this stuff..What describes a man’s attitude of raping a baby or a 70 yr old grandma..What is there in them that turns them on?But still they do it.As said many times earlier, rape and other molestations is not about sex, about about control and desire, desire to own, atleast for a moment. So I would like to live in a way that would make least (nil except my partner preffered) people would look out for me.So,does that me that I am going to live shut in a dark room? No,I want a life, but I am afraid of those men and women out there in the light, them who are sickos.. Can I claim my individual liberty, dress, walk and talk they way I want to and move around?.But can I do about and stop those sickos.. ? What do I do then?Until and unless we have a more secure social attitude towards women,I am not going to talk against such acts  like that in Kanpur ,especially because it deals with yound girls who are yet to perceive the truth of evil world…And all this doesn’t mean that I look down at those bold women who have it in them to choose their way of living, and be happy about it.But I will be put down by my dear’s pointing fingers that “You asked for it”..So I am not for all this liberal and individualistic way of life….

It’s a bad bad world out there  :(

p.s: My bad that I googled “Why should women dress modestly?”..I am more confused/irritated now….

Why to dress modestly for lasting relationshp and marriage

Do feminists ruin families?

Posted by Nimmy on March 8, 2009

Geee…My women’s day had a bad start, when today morning I read this report on TOI ,that ‘Women earn, but Men decide how to spend the money’.The article as such is not much surprising to me,as that is the way I have seen it around me,all my life..I have many working family members, but they hardly seemed to be spending on their own.Nevermind, that is not the focus of this post,as I am rather surprised and confused reading some comments in the discussion forum. Not sure if any copyright issues are involved,I am sharing some ‘cool’ thoughts here.. (those in blockquotes) and my thoughts on these comments.

Indian educated women are the worst among all women in India.I have seen majority of them don’t do much work at home as they are educated. They give frozen food or pasta to their husbands as they are educated and working. In India, the women want naukar for dishwashing, cooking plus a nanny and a car!! To be honest, educated guys should marry a uneducated, simple village girl as she is stronger, straightforward and will definitely cook delicious food. She also won’t have tantrums for wanting this or that.

—Why is it that working women are associated with being less of a mother or a wife. I have heard husbands saying ‘I want to see my wife when I am back tired from work’. He says ‘ I am earning enough for all of us,so why do you want to make your choice a burden for the family-as a working woman can’t give ‘enough’ attention to husband ,kids and rest in the family. What is wrong in frozen pasta and having dishwaher and a naukar-chakar? I have once encountred a discussion in my personal life where the wife wishes to have a dishwaher in their new home, but husband says ‘You are not working and hence not bringing any money,so keep your luxury dreams to yourself’. :roll : No wonder why many women today want to find some solace in some random job and run out of the label of a housewife to a career woman..

Womans Liberation doesnot mean shame lessness . People like Raja Mohan Roy fought fought for rights and dignity of woman he never fought for giving them rights of indecency,,,they very rights of drinking whining and might which brought so much problems to woman themselves. There are few traditional woman who deserve to celebrate womans day . Woman who are mothers ,married and know what work life and tradition balance is .

—Women liberation does not mean shamelessness’..Hmmm,where is it written so. Women libreation is all about equality and justice. And I am very glad that this man has no shame to brand himself shameless,by drawing parellels between men and women drinking. If it is a shame for women to drink,it would be the same with men too right? I am against drinking, both men and women, period.

I wonder if TOI thinks the freedom to go to pubs and right to spend is the empowerment of women. In Indian society, even an empowered woman understands, provided well educated, and leaves the decision to the counterpart as part of mutual cooperation. In the present article, it may be spelt clearly whether only finanicial freedom is the women empowerment.

—-Ah,choosing between marriage and financial freedom.. It is very funny yet scary that men are so scared at women’s financial independence.Yes,financial independence is the first step towards empowerment. If you don’t have money, you have nothing and is no better than a slave, who has to request and is accountable for each and evey penny you spent, atleast in some families. It makes  a lot of difference in families, mostly middle calss ,where the husband would handover his salary to the wife and she would do all the spending. In otherwise cases, where she has to ask for money, every now and then,ah,it atmost irritating to me..Thatz just my opinion and i don’t judge others..

India had the first female PM. So what the heck are the women complaining about. All these western crap, is destroying the Indian way of life and family values. First right should be to the family and its values…why should tax payer fund all this western feminist Nazi propaganda..like NCW or likes of Minister for women , why is not there a Minister for Men?.

—I am sick of this generalization people make.’If APJ Kalam and SRK can make it big,why can’t all muslims become successful like them’..Wonder how a handful people represent million others?I don’t see any little difference, just because Pratibha Patil became the President. And above all,I hardly hear about her, except when,as a President, she hosts some parties for foreign officials..

Women have always been respected & given equal right in our society. Will a woman marry a man whose financial status she does not know? Will a woman marry a uneducated man & say I will bring up the man & his kids all on my income? Will the so called educated woman declare that by law she will not seek alimony? Till a woman can do the above there is nothing called liberation.A woman needs to liberate herself from her own mindset first.

—Will a man marry a woman whose family backgrounds he doesn’t know? Will a educated man marry an illiterate girl? Will a man stop crying about false double standards of moral policing ? I suggest you to reform yourself before you preach others..

Marriage (and for that reason family life as such) is all through an institution of accommodation, adjustment, trust and sharing. Imposition of individualistic traits and rigid compartmentalization of resources and decision-making run contrary to the basic rationale of family life and must not be espoused at least in Indian conditions.

—Marriage is not about enslaving each other,be it the man or the woman. What I  see around is one part, overpowering the other and imposing one’s interests on the other.I wonder why some men are so insecure of women having opinions and individulaitic charaters. If you can,why can’t we?

Ok,thatz it..There are more gems available,go pick yours from the TOI link. :)

Now, a comment of different strata..

This is not to mean that women are denied equality.By Nature, masculine species are protective.Being protective and caring does not mean denial of equality and liberty but rather a natural urge to take care of what one considers as one’s own.Sanatana Dharma enjoins that women are to be protected by Father,Husband and son.also man should eat food prepared by himself, his mother, sister, wife and daughter only. This shows the interdependence of sexes .This is the Natural Law.

Hmm,I have heard infinte muslims saying this-justice and fairness -rather than equality of sexes ,and I just knew that Hindus too are no behind them.

Now,a comment for you to answer..

This is one major reason why marriages last longer in India. If one has to decide weather she wants a longer married life or financial freedom, what would many choose for?

Is it not Ironic that such ladies get pissed if their husbands say something against them but happily obey the orders of several strangers at office and even happily listen whatever the crap they say?

Such women will consider it an attack on their freedom if they are asked to stay for a while in kitchen and serve the family but would happily serve hundreds of men in an airline by giving fake smiles.

Whatcha say ??
